Struss Audio is a Polish company specializing in the design and production of High-End class amplifiers.
With almost half a century experience in the audio industry, a unique savoir-faire and tens of thousands of hours of musical testing, Struss Audio staff has met the highest expectations of even the most passionate of audiophiles.
Struss Audio amplifiers are produced using high-quality components from widely recognized manufacturers.
Our capacitors and FET transistors are selected with great care and the amplifiers’ electronic circuits are assembled using SMD technology. In addition, with precise installation of the rest of the electronic and mechanical components, this considerably increases the reliability of the equipment and significantly improves the quality of sound.
Our unique solution and design is patented. This is one of the most fundamental elements of our equipment, which guarantees an extremely high quality of the electro-acoustic transmitting.
Our amplifier timber and detailing accuracy is comparable to that of equipment produced by some of the best companies in the world. According to some of our most experienced listeners, the sound is even better!
TECHNOLOGY AND PASSION FOR MUSIC
Inspired by his love for Rock Music, especially for the Rolling Stones, together with a quest for an extraordinary sound quality lead Zdzisław Hrynkiewicz-Struss to undertake his own amplifier production.
In the ’70s, only a few people could afford to buy good equipment in Poland. This did not stop Struss’ owner, to find a way of offering the best possible sound for domestic use.
1975 - 1985 - PROGRESSION
Zdzisław Hrynkiewicz-Struss began his career at the Polish Academy of Science as a specialist in Engineering and Electronics.
His main preoccupation was the application of low signal amplification process to measurement techniques. His experience in this field has helped designing and implementing new foundations to amplifiers available at that time.
Starting the production of amplifiers was made possible, thanks to the cooperation with an engineering plant and the access to electronic components.
Inspired by the work of Finnish professor Matti Otali, Zdzisław designed and produced a three-part amplifier. Interestingly enough, this amplifier was sold at the same price as the Fiat 125P.
For aficionados of electronic equipment, the collaboration with Philips sounded like a dream – especially for the measuring instruments and components.
Zdzisław Hrynkiewicz-Struss also began collaborating with Studer AG, for which he designed the Revox B77 reel-to-reel tape machine reading track circuit.
1995 - HRYNKIEWICZ-STRUSS’ FIRST OWN PROJECT - STRUSS 01-2
After his collaboration with Philips, Zdzisław Hrynkiewicz-Struss decided to produce amplifiers based on his own designs.
As a result, the Struss 01-2 was created. This innovative amplifier was awarded ‘Amplifier of the year’ by the Polish monthly magazine Hi-Fi and Music in 1995. Two years later, Hrynkiewicz-Struss achieved yet another magnificent success, receiving the same award for the Struss 140 amplifier from the monthly magazine Audio in 1997.
1996 - The beginning of Struss Amplifiers
The decision to set up Struss Amplifiers was a natural consequence of Hrynkiewicz-Struss’ earlier success. Award-winning amplifiers, great results from tests carried out by ‘the Audio Show’ organiser Adam Mokrzycki and excellent sales numbers confirmed the adequacy of this decision. The company was created by Zdzisław Hrynkiewicz-Struss, his wife and several subcontractors.
1997 – 2000
Beginning of the production of Struss 140L, M and S amplifiers at the Tele and Radio Technology Institute in Warsaw. Certain fragments of the Zdzisław Hrynkiewicz-Struss patent were used in the production of the next generation of amplifiers.
Simultaneously, Hrynkiewicz-Struss ran the “Przy Ratuszowej” shop, after concluding that being idle is not for him. For the next 2 years he worked on a new, original construction design which was completely different from those of his competitors.
2001 - STRUSS Q - A DIFFERENT CONSTRUCTION PHILOSOPHY
In 2001, another of Hrynkiewicz-Struss’ models – the Struss Q, was introduced on the market. It was warmly received by audiophiles and was highly praised, receiving extremely positive reviews from the monthly magazine Audio Video.
2002 – 2008 - CHOPIN
Beginning of the Chopin amplifier production. The use of the notorious pianist’s name requested the highest level of equipment production from Struss. He succeeded as reflected by the test scores conducted by Audio Video magazine. Chopin joined the High-End group, where it occupied a place amongst the best devices tested by the magazine in 2008.
The time had come for a more dynamic development of Struss Amplifiers. Chopin’s triumph translated into huge business success – there was a growing interest in the company’s products, which impacted positively on the product sales.
Implementation of an industrial production that guaranteed the highest construction standards.
Full consistency of each unit of Struss R amplifier was also ensured.
Introduction of the R-150, an amplifier offering a very dynamic, detailed and natural sound. Sustained growth of the number of European Community business partners and first Canadian distributor. Canadian users gave excellent feedback on the amplifiers.
2015 – STRUCTURAL CHANGES
The company’s ownership structure changed. Business shareholders appeared who strongly believed that these amplifiers should be sold to foreign markets.
The company began to operate under the name Struss Audio. Organizational changes went hand-in-hand with the elaboration of a new amplifier.
2017 – THE DM 250 AMPLIFIER
After three years of hard work by the new Struss Audio team, the DM 250 amplifier was released. The amplifier topology and its elements’ location has been borrowed from the best amplifiers build in the year 2000. However a lot of innovative circuits have been introduced. The DM 250 amplifier is produced using cutting-edge technology, as well as meeting global standards of quality and reliability.
